Correct, Alloy Silver (PMS-4983) requires flow/gel-out + an additional 2-3 minutes; at this point you can pull the part, let it cool, apply your desired top coat.

Does Alloy Silver PMS-4983 require a Primer base coat?

Alloy Silver PMS-4983 is a single tone metallic color that does not require a primer base coat. However, because of it's heavy metallic properties we highly recommend a top coat to prevent oxidation. Clear Vision PPS-2974 is a glossy clear coat with excellent protective properties.

Can I use this as a base coat for soft red candy instead of the chrome? Just to get the red a little darker and more metallic? Have u got pictures of this combo ?

You can use that as a base coat instead of Super Chrome. It will have the metallic effect but it may not be any darker, however you can apply an additional top coat to make it darker.

A clear coat is not required but using one does help protect the metallic from oxidation. Intake manifolds are not usually exposed to outside elements so much but powder coating can be susceptible to damage from long term exposure from fuels, oil or other fluids.
