While the PMB-1424 Dark Iris Purple does not require a clear coat I would always consider the application. EX: Applying to a set of custom automotive wheels, perhaps a clear would be a good idea for that added protection from road debris and chemicals. So, depending on use but not necessarily needed for metallic protection.
