SOFT RED CANDY

Item: PPS-2888

Description:

Soft Red Candy is a candy red top coat. This color is a polyester top coat powder coat and has a high gloss finish.

Top Coat Information: Top coat powder coating colors and clear metallics are transparent. The color of the substrate (surface) under a top coat will affect the finished appearance. To simulate the color displayed, use USS 4482 Super Chrome as a base coat, which is the brightest chrome powder coating available. Depending on the brightness of your metal substrate, you may be able to apply directly to the metal without using USS 4482 Super Chrome as a base coat. As always, shoot a test piece first to determine if your desired results will be achieved.

Want a chrome red look .can the aluminum rim be polished and then powder coated with semi transparent red? Seen one shine red on ground when Sun hit it.will it hold up to mn.salt

Question by Support on Nov 04, 2018
ANSWER: Transparent (candy) powders can be applied directly over a polished or chromed surface. Whether or not it will hold up to the MN salty roadways is unknown. Typically the best course of action would be to have an epoxy or zinc rich epoxy primer coat for the best corrosion resistance but doing that would necessitate using a silver or chrome like base coat (Super Chrome USS 4482) over the primer to provide the chrome look prior to the transparent top coat. Hi how does one go about top coating a silver base part that has already been powdercoated? From what I understand on my powedercoating setup I must attach a clip to a bare metal area of my part to create a charge on the part, and then I can powdercoat. How can this be done if the part is already powder coated silver? Also, is powdercoating a candy color similar to painting a candy color? I mean- does the amount of red top coat/ thickness of the paint affect the darkness of the final color? Will curing time affect the final color? Thank you!

Question by Support on Jul 04, 2018
ANSWER: Actually, the clip is the grounding cable (-) and the gun provides charge for the powder. In almost every situation it is better to only partially cure the base coat before applying the top coat to create a better bond. Lowering the voltage before applying the top coat helps the powder attract to the part. With transparent powders, the more that is applied the darker the color gets. Likewise the base coat color will also effect final color. NIC Support

I am looking for pwoder that will work for spring suspension and hold I need red color

Question by Support on Mar 05, 2018
ANSWER: Powder coating is very flexible and is commonly used on suspension components including springs. A polyester formulation would probably be your best option for flexibility and exterior durability. NIC Support
