Does Iced Black Cherry (PMB-2323) require a clear top coat and can it be sanded and polished to remove any blemishes if any? Thanks.

Depending on the application and where your project coated in Iced Black Cherry will be residing, it might be a good idea to apply a clear coat! In this case, if the project will be located outdoors in an environment exposed to sunlight then I would recommend our Clear Vision (PPS-2974) as a clear coat. This is one of our high-gloss clear coat options with fantastic protective properties. It’s one of our only clears that really does add extended durability and UV protection to our colors. You could effectively wet sand the base coat if you ran into some blemishes and then seal it all together with the clear coat once complete.

Can I enhance the look of an illusion series color by applying a base coat?

Illusion series powders should be applied directly over bare substrate. You can further enhance an illusion color by applying a different top coat. We have metallic top coats, color-tinted transparent top coats, different gloss levels of clear coats. All of these can be used as a top coat for an illusion series powder.
