Hi I’m new to the whole powder coat thing, but I want to coat my rims, I’m looking to do a black wheel with a red sparkle, do I buy both colours and mix the bag up?
Answer from Admin
Thank you for the inquiry,
Each color is meant to be applied individually. How you apply and cure is what makes the difference between good adherence and poor adherence. In your case, we recommend applying the base coat black, placing into the oven until the powder flows-out or gels-out. Shortly after pull the part from the oven and allow to cool. Then apply the Red Sparkle. At this point you will place the part back into the oven and cure based the top coats cure schedule. This will bond the two coatings together and provide the look you are striving for.
We ship powder colors with a specific formulation of agents and other ingredients to achieve the color as advertised. Combining powders is not recommend because there is no way of knowing how the combined ingredients will act together when cured.

What is the cure time and temperature for the color Flag Red? I noticed that you do not include application guides with your powder shipments, why is that?
Answer from Admin
Thank you for the inquiry and great question!
Flag Red cure schedule is 400 degrees F for 12 minutes (12 minute timer starts after the thickest portion of your substrate reaches the 400 degree temperature).
We do not include our application guides with our powder shipments because with all the thousands of color options and textures and powder types we offer there would be too many pieces of paper to print and the potential of incorrectly shipping the wrong application guide with a powder shipment. All of our powder application guides are available online by searching for your powder either by number or color name and selecting the "application guide" link. This will give you the PDF document that you can download or print.

I am coating suspension lift springs with the Flag Red, does it need to be cleared?
Answer from Admin
Flag Red does not need to be clear coated, it's fine just as it is.
