There are quite a few options and makers of powder coating spray systems, which sometimes can make the selection process confusing.

Knowing the intended use is key to selecting the right system for you.

For the beginner, there are many inexpensive entry level spray guns that are tempting because of the low price point. These entry level systems may serve the home or "hobbyist" powder coater well enough, but they usually offer very little in the way of setting adjustments. For production or custom work, proper gun setup is critical for success. We recommend a system that will give you the flexibility to work with a broad range of powder types.

Allowing incremental adjustments such as the KV settings from 0-100, along with the ability to adjust the powder and air dosage independently, gives the user tools for a better outcome. Another consideration that should be made is the ability to adapt the spray gun for use with a fluidizer. A fluidizer uses air to create a fluidized bed of powder to draw from, which provides numerous benefits such as; enhanced powder spray-ability and circulation, which is critical for more complex powder formulations.

Do your powders require a special spray gun?

Our powders can be used with any electrostatic spray gun system, however there are some specialty powders. Metallics and top coats are examples of when the applicator would benefit from having the ability to adjust not only the flow, but also the voltage (KV) and current (µA) settings of the gun to help keep back ionization (overcharging) under control.
