Out of the over 6500 color and coating options in our Powder Coating line-up there are a few basic rules that need to be followed that differ from the norm for certain powder applications. Below is a list of Do's and Don'ts for these specific Powder selections.

Super Chrome Plus UMS-10671:

Must Be Fully Cured prior to applying a top coat
Must Be Clear Coated or Top-Coated to prevent oxidation

Ultra Black Chrome USS-5204:

Recommend at least a 75% Cure prior to adding a Clear or Top Coat
Clear Coat recommended to prevent oxidation

Wrinkle Finishes

Must be Applied over bare metal substrate (no base coat or primer below)
No Clear Coat or Top Coat (this will alter the patterned wrinkle texture)
Slightly heavier application will help with preventing substrate exposure in the low spots of the finish
Epoxy versions should not be exposed to UV

Illusion/Dormant Series (including Fractured Illusion)

Must be applied over bare metal substrate
Must have a Clear Coat or Top Coat applied to achieve the expected color
Base coat brought to Flow-out +2 minutes
Important to achieve a 2-3 mil thickness for both the base coat and clear coat

Silver Metallics

Clear Coat recommended on most to prevent oxidation
Flow-out timing varies with metallic flake volume
Hiding properties can vary from color to color

Neons and other Bright Colors

Clear Vision PPS-2974 recommended for extended UV protection
Substrate reaching recommended cure temperature important to achieve expected color
