At Prismatic Powders, we are advocates of checking your work, but that requires you to open the oven doors. There has been some concern about even opening the doors to check part metal temperature. Checking part metal temperature is a critical part of knowing when to start the curing timer. The fear that the part metal temperature will fluctuate with oven temperature in that short time that the oven doors are open is really a non-issue.
When checking the part metal temperature with an IR temperature gun, it is important to check the temperature directly on the part and at as close a range as possible. So rest assured those few minutes that the oven doors are open will have only a very negligible effect on the overall cure time.
