Playboy Blue

After reviewing all the photos on the product page for Playboy Blue, it looks like the only photo to utilize a top coat is the picture of the wheel. It looks like the applicator stated he used Clear Vision as well.

Playboy Blue is a high-gloss blue and does not require a clear coat to achieve the natural look of it but it can be a good idea to apply a clear coat to add an additional layer of protection!

Playboy Blue PSS-1517 is a High Gloss Solid Tone blue that does not require a primer or top coat. HOWEVER, Primers or top coats may be recommended depending on application. If applying to a steel wheel in a salt air coastal environment for example perhaps a Zinc Primer base (ESS-10171) would be a good idea. If concerned about chemicals then the added protection of a clear coat could provide a longer finish life.

Otherwise Playboy Blue can provide protection and a beautiful finish all by itself.

Clear Coats have different gloss levels. You can maintain the look of your base coat by matching the gloss level with the clear coat you choose or change the look of the color by applying a different gloss level clear. To achieve the same look of Playboy Blue that has a gloss level of 85+, you should select Clear Vision (PPS-2974) that has the same gloss level rating. If you wanted to give that color a matte finish or even a flat finish then selecting our Casper Clear (PPS-4005) with a gloss level of 0-6 will give your high-gloss Playboy Blue a Flat look.
