Is Flatter Black a suitable finish for a vehicles air intake as well as valve covers?

You should be fine to use our Flatter Black (ESS-4441) under the hood of your vehicle for those components! The only thing to be weary of is the fact it’s an Epoxy finish so if let exposed to sunlight for too long there is a chance of chalking and fading that can eventually occur!
However, being that it is an Epoxy finish will give you the best overall durability when it comes to being chemically, corrosive and abrasive resistance.

I’ve recently coated a bunch of flat black products with this powder and just realized it is not UV stable. What kind of longevity (time wise) can I expect from this color outside?

It really depends on the level of UV exposure such as the intensity of the sunlight and number of hours (daily) that it spends in the sun. It can be as long as a year or as little as a couple of months before the UV light begins to chalk the powder.
