Have you ever seen an eye-catching color scheme on a product or vehicle and wondered how someone could create such an outstanding finish? It might have been made by the use of a two coat powder coating combination. By applying a top coat of powder over a base coat of powder coating, incredible custom powder coat colors can be created. Not only can you achieve unique, personalized colors, the durability, impact, scratch and wear resistance of the coating is enhanced with a two coat application as well.

There are endless ways to fully customize any powder coating finish when applying a top coat over a base coat color.  Using a clear top coat, the base coat colors can be enhanced to show a higher gloss or reduced to create a flat gloss finish.  To add a metallic look to a base coat, a clear top coat containing various options of metallics can be used as well.  Along with various gloss clears and metallic top coats transparent candy colored top coats can be applied over chrome or metallic base coats for an intense deep finish.  Powder coating finishes not only have the appearance of an automotive-type finish with better durability, they are an environmentally friendly coating.

For the ultimate in powder coating personalization, apply a transparent candy over any colored base coat to get a truly custom color. For example, the Prismatic Powders two-coat kits show off amazing color combinations that cannot be created in a single coat application. This means that a multitude of colors can be achieved with only a few powder coating colors in stock. Currently we have the Shocker Yellow, Peeka Blue and Lollipop Red two-coat kits, which show off some surprising color results that don’t typically come to mind when seeing the original base and top coat. Look for more two-coat kits from Prismatic Powders in the coming weeks.
